stuff

Ahhh Monday.... day of surprises. First of all as you may all know monday is the day we usually go back to work... man does that suck!!! no wonder mondays have such noteriety. Also this monday was voting day, i won't say who i voted for, only that i did not vote for the liberals, but this story made me laugh and brightened up my day considerably:

"Just after noon, the man ran into a polling station in the town's stadium and tried to grab two boxes. An election official snatched one, but the man made it out with the other one under his arm.

"The suspect actually went to the parking area, placed the box down on the ground and
actually used his own personal vehicle [and] drove over the Elections Canada box," said
Const. Ken MacDonald of New Glasgow police.

The man sped away. However, officers picked him a little while later."

yup fun times... that guy is my hero in a weird, what a weirdo sort of sense.
its 6:56 the election results should be coming in farily soon... 4 minutes to be exact.

In other news i went to the optomitrist today to have my vision checked. Turns out my vision has improved remarkably since highschool. I had my vision checked then and it landed at 20/40 or about half as good as 20/20. This time i scored an astounding 20/25 which is almost but not quite 20/20. Of course you need 20/20 vision to become a pilot on the canadian armed forces for some reason, but only 20/25 vision to become a pilot by any other standard.... you see originally when i thought my vision was 20/40 my plan was to get laser eye surgery to fix this problem. But now, according to my optomitrist, my vision is too good to be corrected by laser eye surgery. The example he gave me was thus: imagine that perfect eye sight is like a 9 foot board, and crappy eye sight is like a 12 foot board... if you ask me to cut 3 feet of a twelve foot board, thats fairly easy to do, and even if i'm off by an inch or two your certinaly alot closer to having a 9 foot board. but then imagine you have a board thats 9 feet and 1/32 of an inch, it would be very hard to cut that board to exactly 9 feet! and thats what my vision is... its that 1/32 of an inch thats too small of a flaw to be corrected..... its a pretty stupid analogy yes... but they point he made is obvious. INfact he said that most laser eye surgeries only promise to correct your crappy eyesight to 20/40 or better (because 20/40 is the legal standard to drive).
anyways its kindof a bummer to me because i kinda feel like i'm between the cracks here... vision too good for surgery, but not good enough for airforce. I'm going to apply anyways and hope i can squint my way through the eye exam.

anyways...

Miscilanious update... nothing thoughtfull or funny to read here... move along... move along.

so after much long deliberating and agonizing about what i'm going to do for a living, what i'm going to do when my job at the mill shuts down. I've figured it out. Actually, i knew what i wanted to do, i just couldn't figure out how to afford or support it. My two dreams were to get a pilots liscence or to go back to school and study something such as astrophysics or aerospace engineering. Anyways. I've opted for the first option... to be a pilot... and i'm going to join the airforce to do it. They can pay for my training, and give me a salary in the meanwhile. Sounds good to me. Plus since i have my degree i can enter as an officer... yay!

But before i do that i'm going to be getting laser eye surgery... so my vision will be perfect... yay for perfect vision! So i think i'll apply for the air force in... march or maybe the end of feb.

For those of you who think i'm going to be blown up by terrorists i'd like you to know that the canadian air force only has 18 combat planes. Most of what they do is search and rescue, troop movement, canadian sea and shoreline patrol, and delivery of foreign relief foods.

man i was going to write so much more... but oh were is the energy for it?
i must have left it in albequerque.

new post

I think maybe if i put more Links, in my posts, and made them more interactive, they might be more intresting.
what do you think?

ok maybe thats going overboard.

here is another list (in no particular order)
Things I regret
-Not being more responsable with my money during college
-Not saving sex for marriage, or even love for that matter
-Not having the conviction to follow my dreams
-Not having the conviction to share my faith
-not having the strength to be a better person
-not completeing college in a more timely matter
-going to college before i knew what i wanted to do in life
-giving up on the girl of my dreams after she told me she wasn't intrested
-not being able to be myself around said girl
-being too worried about what other people think
-being too shy
-never learning to dance (girls love a guy that can dance!)
-quiting taekwondo in highschool, also baseball, and to a lesser extent hockey

What i'm going to do about it
-be responsable with my money now
-from now on, no sex till marriage!
-I'm following my dreams step #1) trip to europe by myself
step #2) racing school
step #3) pilots liscence
step #4) back to school... :S
-maybe if i pray more i'll get that conviction back
-make an effort to do nice things even though it doesn't always feel good
-when i go back to school... lookout timely manner, here i come!
-I'm waiting until i've got my dreams figured, before i go back to school
-as for the girl, i guess i'll just have to wait ? i don't know
-well if i can hopefully stop worrying about what other people think, and being shy then maybe i'll be able to be myself around that girl... this is a tricky one
-I might... maybe... learn to dance.... maybe
-I'm going to start exersizing!

New Years Resolution
be less critical of other people, and worry less.

Seven

A challenge is a challenge. I've interpreted this as “seven of the top things” rather than “the top seven things.” That being the case, nothing is in any particular order. Top-ten-type lists are kind of a pet peeve of mine. I wonder why these are top seven lists anyway...

I want to do before I die:

  1. Learn to whistle with my fingers.
  2. Become fluent in at least one “second” language.
  3. Create something many people will enjoy for a long time. Music maybe.
  4. Get rid of everything I own.
  5. Fly an aeroplane.
  6. Get all my friends into one room. A really small room perhaps; that could be fun!
  7. Sex. You heard me.

Things I cannot do:

  1. Whistle with my fingers.
  2. Open my eyes under water.
  3. Function with cold hands.
  4. Drive a manual transmission. Well, maybe “should not” would better apply here. ;-)
  5. Motivate myself. Yeah, that's a tough one.
  6. Commit to, decide on, or make up my mind on much of anything.
  7. Build a decent fire under even the slightest of adverse conditions. I was the shame of my scout troop.

Things that attract me to the opposite sex:

  1. Self respect.
  2. Honesty.
  3. Natural boobies.
  4. Unusual interests.
  5. Musical affinity.
  6. Geekiness and nerdery of almost any kind.
  7. Smiles, in quality or quantity.

Things I say most often:

  1. “Okay, here's what we do...”
  2. “Good stuff.”
  3. “Right on.”
  4. “Solid.”
  5. “You prob'ly shouldn't listen to a word I say, it's bad for your health.”
  6. “What's the haps?”
  7. “Wasn't me.”

Celebrities I find attractive (was “celebrity crushes”):

  1. Liv Tyler
  2. Jennifer Connelly
  3. Teri Hatcher
  4. Helen Hunt
  5. Jessica Biel
  6. Alyson Hannigan
  7. Angela Lansbury — wait... no.

I had to change that last category because I honestly can't recall ever having a crush on a celebrity — except maybe Jennifer Connelly, who stole my heart in “the Labyrinth.” Yes your plight moved me, 16-year old Jennifer. I guess I must have been... what? Six years old? But that didn't stop the passion between us. No, I knew you needed me then. I wanted to help you and your rag-tag group of Muppet friends rescue your baby brother from the Goblin King, David Bowie. I've still got a score to settle with you, Bowie!

But I digress.

I like to keep my crushes deceptively close, but just out of reach; someone I've at least met, but who wouldn't go out with me if I were the last man on Earth. Mmm-mmm! Now that's some good crushin'!
